BILL BLACK'S
WEBSONG
SITE

Greetings and welcome!
The purpose of this page is to provide a memory aid for folks who sing
Irish songs in pubs, sessions, nursing
homes, public executions, subway stations, etc.
Only in a few cases have I included notation with these songs, working
on the premise that the folks most likely
to use this site will know the tunes of 95% of the entries even if
they're a little doubtful about the words. This site
is not about learning the songs, but about having a place to look for
lyrics.
It is intended to replace the battered, torn, scarred three-ring
binders that most of us presently employ for the purpose.
No more Guinness-stained pages falling to the floor in the middle of a
gig! No more flipping madly through
unsorted pages while an increasingly hostile crowd sits staring!
I envision a day in the not-too-distant future - when wireless access
to the Internet is far more common than it is
now - and the battered, beer-stained, but still functioning laptop
replaces the three-ring binder as the indispensible
Singer's Assistant.
I hope I'm around when that happens!
