To use the tune index on this page:
- Click on the tune name
to open the tune's MP3 sound file. Depending on how
your computer is configured:
= the tune file will open in your browser and playback will commence
= the tune file will be downloaded to your hard drive for handling by
your
designated audio program (e.g. iTunes)
- Click on the tune file
number (second column) to get to the folder for that tune.
- In the folder are three different files:
= . abc files - can be opened and read by an ABC program like BarFly or
abc2win.
There are also online sites (e.g. Convert-a-matic)
that will translate ABC files
= .mid files - are computer-generated sound files. Nothing fancy but
will give a
very adequate representation of the tune (also much smaller than MP3 or
WAV
files)
= .pdf files - are basically "pictures" of the sheet music. No playback
function but
very helpful for those who can read "the dots". You need a program like
Adobe
Reader or Mac Preview to open and print PDF files.
Details on file formats and downloading instructions can be
found here.
For ABC users who want to have one big file containing all
the tunes together, click here.
I'd be happy to help you with any
problems you encounter.
